Description Ingredients
The Color Guard Stick has an SPF 30 rating plus special UV/UVA inhibitors to help protect tattoos from fading. Other ingredients help moisturize the tattoo thus enhancing color. The large stick allows precision application, helping protect the tattoo while allowing for regular tanning of other skin areas.
Do I have to protect my tattoo even though it is covered? The rays from the sun are very powerful and penetrate most cloth. So even though you might not be burning underneath your clothes, your tattoo will be slowly fading. Will Color Guard give me a rash? It shouldn't. Color Guard is hypo allergenic. Will the sun effect my Tattoo on cloudy days? Yes, in any weather, sun or cloudy, hot or cold. Unless you're indoors, wear multi layers of clothing or in a totally light filtered area, sunrays are always present. Therefore the sun deterioration of color is always present. The ultra violet (UV) rays of the sun easily pierce through clouds and fade color. What are the advantages of Color Guard over other sun protection products? Color Guard is not a simple sun protectant. It was specially formulated by skin care professionals to meet the very unique demands of tattoo enthusiasts. It will help protect and preserve the artwork and colorations of a tattoo for long periods of time. Can I use Color Guard on a healing tattoo? NO. Color Guard is not an aftercare product and should be used on tattoos no less than 3 weeks old.

This stuff saved my tattoos.... May 30, 2015
Reviewer: Bethica from Salem, NH United States
I purchased a bundle including this product back in the winter.. Didn't get a chance to use it until today.. I only applied it once throughout the day at the beach, as it didn't budge, even in the water. My tattoo's are on my right shoulder blade, and left shoulder. I applied my usual sunscreen at least four times throughout the day, and again, only applied Color Guard once. I got home to see my back tomato red :( but anywhere I had applied the Color Guard hadn't changed a bit. So glad I used it.. It definitely saved my tattoos. Will purchase again and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

My sons have multiple tattoos and swear by this product it really has kept the depth and detail of colouring in great shape. What I find amazing though is the quick turn around of shipping. Its was only 5 days from the time I put my order in to delivery and this was an International order. You guys have a customer for life!

Overpowering smell of cheap sunscreen September 20, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from California USA
The odor is just too much.
People will smell you coming from 15 yards away!

I have a small tattoo on the inside of my forearm, and even a thin layer of Color Guard has an overpowering smell of cheap coconut sunscreen that will stay with you all day long.

Be prepared to have people around you say things like "What's that smell? It smells like the beach"  or "Hey, you smell like a Pina Coloda".

This is not for everyday use if you work in an office or other professional environment.  It's too bad, because tattoos are generally more acceptable in such environments, but the smell of Color Guard prevents any sort of professional persona when you smell like you just got off the boardwalk.

pleasant smell November 30, 2011

This stuff smells nice and the tube is very convenient for tossing in your purse on the go. My only wish is that the SPF content was a bit higher. Still, not a bad product at all.

Not Bad... September 12, 2009
Reviewer: JNieporte from Ohio (United States)
Color Guard is a great idea for an aftercare product; it protects your tattoo from the sun and is very easy to carry around. However, I have to be honest and give it three stars because of the price and the "feel".

For the cost ($5) I've bought higher SPF sun screen, and a lot more of it comes in the bottle than on this stick. Yes, the Color Guard is effective as an SPF 30 product, but I've found that mine lasts about three weeks when used on all of my tattoos. I can make the bottle of sun screen last about three months with the same number of applications at the same price.

The "feel" of the Color Guard is another thing that somewhat bothers me. To me, it's somewhat greasy, even after it's "dried". This makes me want to wipe it off, thus ruining the effect.

Color Guard is good if you want something easily portable (unlike a bottle of sun screen) but I don't think it's worth the cost. I have to be honest, sorry. I'll stick with my SPF 70 lotion.
